Only problem with all this is the schooling

Which for many is the overriding reason as to where they live (or stay).

Yes, this why I said “with a certain amount of Jewish infrastructure” as that’s the key.  Denver has it for certain Yeshivish segment and very Modern people on the left but not others but Cleveland has got the schools now and Boca now has boys and girls options through HS PLUS busses going to N Miami if people want more.

Maybe, but you’ll also save on taxes, school tuition, car insurance, food and basically everything. Ultimately, I think people move for money reasons AND a different pace of life, shorter commutes, more family time, etc. If you are loving all the action in NY or LA then you should stay.  I was just visiting family in LA and while I enjoyed my trip, I don’t think I could go back to that stressful, crowded living again, even if money was no object.

Hey there. Does anyone anything about montebello? It seems like it is just across the street from monsey (walkable to shuls). Are the Frum people living there? how do the taxes compare to neighboring communities? I am looking in the area because I Cant stand Brooklyn.

I would love to know if you know about any Chabad communities in that area with low taxes.

It's part of Monsey. Being in Rockland County means it has insanely high taxes. The closest state with lower taxes is probably PA.
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

Thanks for your response. I was told it has to do with the schools, and therefore varies between neighborhoods (?). Whats the average taxes in monsey for a home btw 5-700K

Rocland includes airmount pomona ext. And taxes vary drastically.

Being that there are so many Yidden who dont send to public schools why dont they petition to change the taxes? sue the county? IDK.

What a bummer! How is anyone able to retire with such a commitment on top of maintenance and other expenses.

Could be much higher in some parts of Rockland County. Recently spoke to someone who's paying 30k on an 800k house.

Why Arkansas? Go to a PA suburb. You'll save 10k.

$1,575 for property tax is meaningless without knowing FMV of house (at the very least), as well as other costs.

Bought for $225k, FMV ~$265k. Insurance (property and flood) ~$3,300.

So both your property tax and your insurance are a fortune (as a % of FMV) compared to mine. My RE tax is about 4x yours, and insurance is about half of yours. You know what houses 'round here go for, no need for me to post.

I live in Airmont which is right next to Montebello. While Most parts of Monsey and some parts of Airmont is in the East Ramapo school district, Montebello is already in Suffern school district. (Aka Central Ramapo)
I live in Suffern school district and my school taxes which is around 60% of the total bill is roughly 35% more what people pay in East Ramapo. My total tax bill is 17k +
@ADG (Aron Duvid Ganz ;)) son has a chabad house in Montebello
