Putting politics aside, they have gotten used to it. For diapers you can request a special pickup. Erev Pesach is always a issue.
I always bring my extra plastic shopping bags as well.
Meh. Will always be a major hassle and headache. We are limited to 3 35gl cans once every 2 weeks. With kids and hosting... Not to mention the smell in the garage all summer from the garbage sitting in the heat.

Crazy.
Garbage pickup may be the biggest pro of living in Beachwood, OH.
Fitting that trash is a pro for Cleveland

My take from Toronto-

Yes, garbage is a bit of a pain, and only every other week, switching off with recycling. We've always kept it outside, so not a big issue with smell. Garbage also costs $250-550/bin/year, depending on bin size. Compostables are every week.

Recycling is free, so you do see some people who mysteriously have many large recycling bins, and only one garbage bin. When they first introduced these bins 15-20 years ago, I remember there was some enforcement and some people got violation notices for putting their garbage in recycling bins, but I haven't heard of any enforcement in years now. Not saying you should do that, but that is the solution that some seem to have found.

Side note- I remember being in Montebello NY (near Monsey) once, and seeing a garbage truck stop at someone's house, and the driver walked up to the side of their house, brought the bins out to the street, and then put them back. I imagine that person must have given the garbage man a nice gift to get that kind of service, but it was still shocking to me. Here in Toronto you'd be lucky if they turn your bin around, if you forgot to put it facing out on the curb. Some drivers just won't take it.

For diapers you can request a special pickup.
Interesting. Never heard of that, and I've lived here pretty much my whole life. We put them in the green bin, which is picked up every week.

Erev Pesach is always a issue.
Yes. There's private pickup ($$) or you can drive your garbage to the dump, which is 10-15 min away from much of the community.

Not to mention the smell in the garage all summer from the garbage sitting in the heat.
You don't have anywhere outdoors to keep it?

Outdoors it still smells when it's hot. (Even with covered cans that click shut). And if raccoons/skunks get into it it's even worse. Not to mention maggots...and this is in CLE with pickup once a week.

Beachwood has unlimited on-demand same-day pickup at no charge and no size/weight/qty limits.

But I'll admit, I am a little jealous of those UH trucks that pickup your garbage from the side of your house!

UH has no limits but you need to use max 32 gallon cans (no limit how many cans, but a large family could require 8-10 cans which is a pain). I use 48 gallon and don't have an issue, but they still only fit about 3 bags each.

32 is absurd. Beachwood city cans are 96 gallons.

Yup.
And you need to sort the recycling into a bunch of different categories
and it's been that way for decades.
About 20 years ago, we went to Toronto for a chasuna, and stayed by a family friend who had 10+ kids.
They told us that the neighbors on their entire block know to call them if anyone has room left in their single permitted garbage bin...
We took all our rubbish with us back to the states  ;)
now I get why everyone is already in bed 7 PM

Pros:
Daily pickup (though sometimes that means that you daily pick up whatever your neighbor's kid dropped on the way to the bin)
No limit on amount (even if it doesn't fit on the pile next to the bin)
What's recycling?

Cons:
Bins fit at best one days needs.
Bins find a way to spontaneously combust in the middle of the street.
Cats

They've been putting it subterranean bins that have sensors that tell the city when its time to pick up

Those also solves the spontaneous combustion issue...
