Its not more humid than NYCn and most people have private pools + there are plenty of empty and private beaches.

Not saying much, there's a reason NYC clears out in the summer.

But still I was in MIA in late September and it was too hot/humid to bear.  I don't think NYC is that bad that late in the year.

I assume they have AC theirthere, as do cars. And remember, out of town they have parking at these places, so the walk from car to building is minimal.

Did anyone write the pros and cons of any city in CT? I moved from Brooklyn to CT 2 months ago, and I'm very happy here. If anyone is interested I can share some pros and cons.

I'm interested in hearing about Jewish communities in CT in reasonable commuting distance for daily work in Midtown.

Stamford/Greenwich is the only community that is within an hour. Bridgeport is another 15-20 min train ride.

I doubt you'll get many responses in this thread. Most people have not thought about this. There are four basic reasons people live where they do.
1.this is where they always lived and never gave any thought to where I want to live (how most decisions in life are made)
2. I would never leave Brooklyn-it's smelly, overcrowded, loud and there are no gas and trees.
3. My wife would never live outside of walking distance from her mother-it might force her to grow up.
4. This is where my job is

where in CT? A friend of mine is nagging me to join the kollel in Waterbury, but that doesn't look like it'll happen

I moved to New Haven it's about 1:45 to Midtown by train, although Stamford should be within the hour you're looking at more expensive housing.

Pros:
1) very affordable housing
2) Small but nice size Chabad community
3) 1:30 to NY by car without traffic
4) Good school for kids
5) No problem with parking
6) There are nice parks, beaches, outdoor activities for kids and adults etc.
7) Small city e.g. unlike NY where you have to wait 6 months to have ConEd install an electric meter it can be done here in days.
8)Kosher food accessible i.e. Chalav Yisroel milk and Pas Yisroel bread. It's nice for outside the big communities like NY.

Cons:
1) No Kosher restaurants
2) For those looking for other communities there's not much outside the Chabad community
3) There's only one school, so there aren't many choices
4) Crime rate is high in some areas, but that doesn't affect us much

Where's new haven? Is it near Stanford or even past it going toward Waterbury?

Whats wrong with brauers? Doesn't the bus pick up from all over?

It's a 45 minute drive northeast. Waterbury is further north. Where's Brauers taking you?
