I was wondering that. So then why has CLE exploded so much recently? Everyone says the vouchers but this is crazy. All the benefits of living in Beachwood existed 8 years ago also. So what happened now?

It’s not just vouchers but the fact that Cleveland is the sweet spot of OOT, but with much deeper school and other Jewish infrastructure than most small communities along with very low cost of living.  Denver has definitely grown since we moved from LA 10+ years ago but we and some other cities are now hampered by skyrocketing housing costs.  Unless someone moves here from LA, NY or BOS their house is probably gonna cost more here now, which is kind of insane.  Friends of ours (w/six kids) moved last year to Cleveland and on the same salary, with lower tuition and housing, have almost $3000 a month more in disposable income. Cleveland is not only attracting people from NY but from smaller communities that might also be looking for stronger high schools, learning opportunities, etc. AND can still reduce their cost of living even more. Where else in the US are you going to find that right now?

Changing the whole atmosphere and diversity and community feel of the schools and dragging them all to the right. And also with other noticeable examples such as this extreme keeping up with the Jones's.   All of a sudden we have first graders coming to school knowing what brand of shoes they are wearing and what's in style.


Time to move to Hawaii.

Yeah sorry “here” is Denver.   Our housing now costs more than Silver Spring, parts of Boca Raton, Philly, etc. and we have less to offer as far as schools, restaurants, etc.

Does Detroit really have the same schooling opportunities as Cleveland?

All communities change. Lakewood used to have a decent MO community. The Monsey I grew up in had a sizeable MO community that has basically died off and Monsey has changed drastically. Neighborhoods in Brooklyn and the Bronx have completely shifted.

Change and growth are part of the normal circle of life. Everyone complains about change in their communities though.

It's not going to be free unless you make under 2x federal poverty.
