I won't say it never happens, but honestly I can't remember the last time it happened. I haven't been using a UPS for at least 5 years and I can't remember having a problem because of not having one.

Desktop user?
I use a UPS and it came in handy when my power went out for a week this year. I charged my phones and laptop for 3 days

Con Ed is one of the most reliable utilities in the world. Due to redundancy, many networks never experience power flickering on and off.

Doesn't that equal less time after shabbos?

That's because it depends on your frame of mind, but based on your comment, I'd say con.

LOL
No kidding. People were wondering why I started laughing when it happened

BH I didn't lose anything, but maybe it's time to start using a UPS... (the computers here pretty much all have them, for whatever reason mine doesn't.)

Yeah, if you live in CLE :P

On a more serious note, I've heard claims that's it's better for the computer to use one because it delivers a more steady current (or something like that,) I don't know if this is true.

And spend extra for additional capacity. I used my 900w UPS in a blackout basically as a portable charger for my electronics (phones and laptop) for a few days.
