Hello DDF!

Toms River currently seems to be a very appealing area to move to; gorgeous, huge homes for a fraction of the price of a dump in Brooklyn, yet still low property taxes.
Are there any major cons to be aware of?

Now, about NJ in general vis-a-vis education:

1) NY (or is it just NYC?) is well-known to be unmatched in terms of educational services offered (therapies, related services, etc) to students.
How does NJ compare to NY in this field (in Yeshiva setting obviously)?

2) On the flip side, from the standpoint of jobs, NY is well-known for the high salaries earned by those with a M. Ed. working in Yeshiva settings.
How does NJ compare to NY in this field?

I'd really appreciate it if anyone has any insight into these matters you can share.

Thank you so much in advance!

I can't address your two specific questions, but I know there has been a lot of talk about people moving in and having a hard time getting their kids into schools. I think that should also be a concern on your radar when you explore options.

  • Location: The value of a forum such as this one is not in that one can post a question and receive an answer, but in that the question has most likely been asked before, and the answer is available to him that will but only use the search function.
  • Programs: 1. Search on google. 2. Search in the right board of DDF with a general word or two. 3. Read the wiki. 4. Read the thread. 5. Ask away.

Not sure why he chose that caption, I'd call it:

Typical NYC street corner meets subway car.

Another NY con.
Costco.com just stopped shipping foam items to NY, they want me to pay almost double for garbage paper stuff to "save the climate". >:( >:( >:(

I might ask Dan to bring me some from heaven on earth - Cleveland when he comes to NYC every other Sunday, I'm sure he'll be thrilled to utilize his free luggage benefits. :D

In the context of the previous post (about Costco) I misread that: Kirkland
Small people talk about other people.
Average people talk about things
BIG PEOPLE TALK ABOUT IDEAS.

- Letter posted in shuls addressed to landlords about raising the rents and that it has a financial impact and burden on the young newlywed couples as well as a impact on setting the rental prices for others to follow. A point is made asking landlords to be mevater on the few extra hundred dollars as a form of chessed and showing Hashem that you care for the bnei torah.

Is this a pro or a con?
