CLE might be a liberal city, but...
-Bans on plastic bags are now banned in OH cities.
-CLE voters voted to ban speeding and red light cameras.
-OH cities with speeding and red light cameras lose an equal amount of revenue from the state based on how much they collect.

they did not have a businessmen as a Mayer. Bloomberg made red light cameras like parking tickets which means it’s on the car not the driver. Basically no way to get out of it. City is pulling in a lot of $ from the cameras.

Was on the car here too. Go start a referendum to vote on them.

There's a private corporation that runs these things raking in billions. It's a win-win for politicians, no upfront costs, an outside company running the program A-Z. All the city has to do is pass the laws that will generate the revenue, and collect the revenue. Show me a politician willing to give that up. And the private corporation running it won't go down without a serious fight. NYC ain't OH. It's too juicy to give up.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Politicians didn't do it. It was grassroots, go door to door to get signatures to put it on the ballot.

"Most Ohio Republican lawmakers back expanding school vouchers, though there is some disagreement among them about whether to push to make every Ohio student eligible for vouchers, or to pass a more modest expansion."

Or be more creative with your time wasting, collect signatures at the subway and bike lanes.

I wish there would be a setting on the car which limits the car speed at 35 MPH.

If you have Waze active you can set an alert when you reach a certain speed.

An alert on 35 won't help much for reaching 36 in a split second on Ocean Parkway/ Ft. Hamilton.

That's not the same. I was being very careful driving around NYC in March and still managed to get cited.
Tesla speed limiter and autopilot is a game changer for that.

Looks like I must have missed that it was a school zone. Plus I get a bonus $25 fine from National.
What are the hours that school zones are in effect?

You just don't know how to drive in NY  :P

Waze warns you in advance of cameras. If you know the locations that's another safeguard.

The last time I got a speeding ticket was when I thought I managed to book a VS flight out of JFK at 8am to go to EY, and doubted whether I would make it on time, so I went over the limit. (when I got to the airport I found that I had mistakenly booked for the wrong date). Other than that I don't think I got a speeding ticket in NY in decades.

NYC is very studious, 24/7.

How fast were you going?

They changed the law recently (maybe a year ago) making all hours in effect, and essentially the entire city is a school zone. (I guess they had to do it that way to comply with NYS laws and still manage to maximize the revenue).
