*IF* you are paying 50%, yes. but vast majority dont pat that much or even pay much if anything...kollel, income levels etc; there are other new benefits that have been passed through after recent protests such as free pre-k and tax credits for those with children under certain ages...

in reality this has helped the middle class....immigrants can also benefit from tax free status on foreign income for up to 10 years IIRC and there are ways to structure taxes i imagine...

tuition is also very inexpensive....

My dads insurance and taxes monthly in the US came out to be very similar to the Israeli- rate. Unless i was was making a bunch more money and then i would be paying higher premiums. (but these numbers are very hard to figure out- bec my dads income is greater than mine)
Another point to keep in mind- for low income folk- they can actually afford in surance in Israel- unlike many americans.

That's the pro of Canada maybe, not Montreal. I hate the people in montreal, they all make like they don't speak english...

As a matter of fact the last time I was there I on purpose went through a stop sign and said if the police catches me I'll tell him it doesn't say stop. My uncle actually did that once and they let him go. But seriously it's the only place in the world...

Judging by the attitude I got from cops just for asking for directions in English I find that hard to believe...

Unfortunately the Deli closed but they have a very nice Pizza store with great tasting Pizza & the Bagel Store there has the best bagels around & I'm from NYC & I've been around to a lot of bagel stores. & recently they opened their first all kosher grocery store that's the store attached to the Pizza Store. So it does seem like an up & coming neighborhood. & as far as the people I met there, they are super nice kind people from what I can see.

It sounds like you havent been around enough. Maybe the local frenchies near the Jewish community are like that but not throughout the rest of MTL.
I lived there 2.5 years and couldnt stand the frenchies. FOr a while I was a salesman dealing with mom and pop shops, half couldnt talk to me and the rest just wouldnt out of pride... not a good combo to be a successful salesman.
The job market in MTL is horrible.

The only Pro that I found with MTL was that nobody mixed into my business. I did what I wanted, dressed how I wanted etc... and never felt uncomfortable.
