Yeah, and NYC is a bit crowded and noisy. :)

Lol, it was a bit of an understatement!

How is the Chabad school situation and how are kids that come out of it?

The system goes from nursery to Zal. Nursery till 6th grade(for boys, 12th grade for girls) is in a state-of-the-art facility right next to NMB with smartboards in most classrooms.
7th-Zal is in South Beach. At this time, I would avoid the Mesivta(Chicago, Toronto etc. much better options). Zal depends on the year. The chinuch, though, in the NMB facility is quite
stellar. No politics etc.

How do the kids come out?

Well.... so many things affect the middos, eidelkeit, frumkeit etc. of kids. As long as the kid has good friends, a chassidish and stable home, he/she should come out fine. The school only
adds IMO.

There was talk about it for years. Based on what I heard, Rabbi Shapiro wanted to move it to Fort Lauderdale or Aventura.
In terms of the ruchnius status of the zal, it really depends on the year(Unlike some Zals that are consistent, like Brunoy).
2-3 years ago there was a very good large group.

Although I've posted earlier in the Best Places to live(Lubavitch) thread, I'll reorganize my thoughts for this thread.
It was also discussed there regarding the crime near that area.

Lots of OOT places are like that, but the good thing is u get one of each can, so people recycle alot over there, to fill up the green and blue cans.

In Beachwood you can throw away anything and call for on-demand pickup. And yes, I do mean anything!
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

In line with what I wrote there, NMB is one of the safest communities among the wiki list. Don't judge a community by the ZIP code.

Toronto: (haven't lived there in a while, but...)
pros: Friendly people - even members of other tribes
         Clean streets
Excellent public transportation system (technically feasible to get by w/o car)
         Many parks/playgrounds (every few blocks)
         Low crime rate
Wide streets (room for parking and! driving
Lots of kosher food / restaurants / great bakeries
Variety of schools/yeshivos for the whole spectrum
Variety of sports teams, miscellany of museums incl. Hockey Hall of Fame
World's only yeshiva for the deaf
Eruv covering most of Jewishly inhabited areas (one of the best there is, halachically)
Though there is a measure of autonomy to all shuls/rabbis, there is a central authority as every Rabbi/community concedes to a single Rabbi who is recognized by all as (unofficial) chief Rabbi
There are tuition breaks (w/o being on WIC :P)
Snow removal is swift, efficient and includes sidewalks
Growing young communities in multiple areas
free health care and monthly child allowance
         driveways, garages and yards
Jewish employers who hire in AND outside job opportunities have gotten better AFAIK
         Kalman's kishke

Cons:Higher taxes (someone's gotta pay for insurance)
         tough job market
Really long and really cold winters
         Snow, usually lots of it
         Did I mention the winters?
Price premium on many kosher products (import expenses)
While remaining low, crime has increased in some areas, mostly due to low income projects being built
My parents live there (okay, okay, not really relevant to most of you)
Gas prices are higher than USA
         Housing is not cheap

Cons really boil down to expenses and winters. Personally, I would easily move there if not for the winters. It really has big city benefits and small town attitude.

Thanks. Can you provide a breakdown of the different communities.

Also my understanding is that their is a lot of politics and some discord between the different communities, true?

How come everyone there seems to be related?

How does so much of the community afford to live in huge houses?
Life isn't about checking the boxes. Nobody cares.

Montreal seems like a friendlier more laid back type of people.

Though the communities themselves seem a bit more black and white then Toronto.
