So far you've admitted the lubavitch area is not good and the yeshivish area hires security to keep people safe.
It may not be dangerous but that hardly sounds ideal to me.

It's more dangerous than people think. Stories aren't always talked about. Plenty of incidents of people getting attacked at night, even during the day on main streets. And I know people who have woken up to find their cars on cinder blocks with the tires gone. Cars get stolen. It doesn't happen every day, all the time but it certainly does happen. And the truth is while people may feel safe walking down the streets at night in their neighborhoods its a bit of a false sense of security.

That's what I suspected.

And I still think people should consider Detroit and that's WITH the safety situation.

And the security that goes around the city is kind of a joke. Detroit would be better off with Shomrim. Or neighborhood watch programs like Baltimores for example.

Why would you suggest ppl to move here?

The little red cars that go around are more than a joke but it give me simchas shabbos. So the federation felt that to give everyone a good laugh its worth the $

Nope, would be a complete waste of money.  Better to let them subsidize schooling.

There are people in shul that come packing heat and that's good enough for me in case of a Mumbai situation cv"s.  Though the odds of terrorists picking CLE would have to be a lot lower than MIA/NYC/LAX/ORD.  Especially if they know about OH concealed carry laws :D

If that ever did happen in Beachwood the police themselves would be on every street corner.

But regardless it's a silly argument. Would you also want a nuclear hazzmat team escorting you home if it was free, in case of a soviet attack? I hope you understand the example, if there is no reason for it 1. It wouldn't be there and 2. It wouldn't be necessary even if it is "free". This is all assuming Beachwood is as safe as Dan says. Which as of now from my understanding I agree it is.

I'm not saying Detroit is the place to be. But its def a place for people to consider. Smaller city.  Fairly friendly people. Less black and white than a lot of other places. 4 seasons. Cheaper housing. Etc.

Everyone likes to believe where they live is safe. Perception is not reality.
Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

I take the opposite approach.

I take the opposite approach.

You can feel 'safe' and still be aware, prepared, cautious.

I don't feel scared in my city as well but I'm no fool as to what goes on. And I try to make smart choices.

I guess you wouldn't say I feel completely safe, but I don't feel scared. Maybe it's just the lack of focusing on it completely.
