At least in the city.
Can always venture out to the valley but the weather isn't as good and the traffic is horrendous.

Really?? Is that true?
Yes.

+1. That's why I don't know what full tuition is
But your still getting a break and have to present your finances before a committee. Not pleasant

Don't get me wrong, I love LA perhaps more than any other city in the US and I'm always going back there to vacation and I spent 3 years learning there.  But boy does it have more than its fair share of cons as a city to raise a family.

It's interesting that there are many young couples coming back to LA and starting their families here.  I don't know if they'll all stay once they have a few kids, but they're coming back for now.

I would add to the con list earthquakes (even though big ones may only come every couple decades they can be devastating)

I didn't include earthquakes for the same reason hurricanes are not included in NY/FL and blizzards/tornadoes are not included in the midwest: natural disasters don't count.  If anything, damaging earthquakes are a lot less frequent than other damaging natural disasters.

Unless it shot up. Many 2 family houses were not that much more then that. Which lowers the cost considerable. But still probably the most expensive frum place.

Of course they are.
Living in LA is the high life.  It's like flying First, who could go back to coach?
And yet...you have to pay for flying first and in the game of life you can't always use miles.
And it's not $$$$ it's also spirituality.

I wouldn't go that far, but it's close. The valley is still under $750k.

Live paycheck to paycheck?
How does that help if the paycheck isn't big enough.

A growing family likely needs a house that's 4/2.5 or so.
I don't think you can find that in the city for less than 7 figures. CMIIW.

The valley does not equal la

It has 99% of the benefits of LA (and it's technically in LA city).  It's just farther north and doesn't have as good weather.
