Let's put this in perspective - Alaska beat out Hawaii by 9%. This tells you more about how good a fit a state is for its actual residents, not how good a state is in general. The top 10 are all among the least populous states (Texas being the exception).
Maybe that tells you more about the herd mentality of people who feel like they
need to live in the city when really they would be happier living on a ranch in Wyoming.
