Did you already have a biz card? if not then you should get the 10K no problem.
If you already had the biz card and cancelled then there are no guarantees and YMMV. Some get lucky applying right away and getting the bonus again and some dont get the bonus even after waiting awhile.

You can prepay the card and have a higher credit limit to reach the 15K.
You don't need to cancel the personal card to get the business card.

Yes you can get the business bonus even if the personal is open.
And Starwood has no way of checking that you have an AMEX Plat, you need to call them up every year to renew.

It's good until 02/28.

After that it just takes a little "UI"

Never cancel a card before getting the points.
How long ago did you spend the $1k?

I had the exact same prob. Fight it.  I called, and they opened an investigation and denied. I called again and they wanted a copy of the offer. I opened the link to the application on Dans deals, (Not the one i used) and took a screen shot (Hit printscreen on your comp). Then I faxed that to them as 'proof' of the offer and finally got it!!

If I have a personal Starwood card and a Amex Gold and I want to apply for Starwood business, will that send any flags? Should I close gold first (once I get start up miles transfered) or does business not mix with personal with Amex?

Thanks

There is no reason to cancel any cards- Business is mostly seperate and if you have the credit then you should get approved
