I wasn't watching this year. But I've seen the fireworks when I was waayy further then 5 miles out. I was on the highway on the way back to NY and hundreds of cars were pulled over on the road watching the show.

I watched it from Hoboken.

Definitely worth the toll of the Holland Tunnel.

I found parking a mere small two block from the waterfront. I parked on 12th Street Corner Washington.

I had a fantastic view of the fireworks right over my head without the hassle of standing between heavy crowds on the West Side of manhattan.
