So I was walking on my block here in LA today and had pretty good 4G LTE service so I ran a speedtest with the Speedtest.net app.

Results: 9.8 Mb down, 1.3 Mb up

Not bad in my opinion.  How does this compare to Verizon? (I'm on Sprint)
I got those speeds with WiMax ...LTE should be  r'evolution'ary not substandard! :P

That makes sense. They've been doing tower upgrades for a while now. It should last about a week and Sprint will refund you for the days you didn't have service if you ask them.

I spoke to Sprint and told them my phone has not had service for the last three months at my office.  They told me it is because of tower upgrades and it could last 3-6 months.

Wow, you could be lucky.  When this happened to me (both at my home and then a few months later at my office) Sprint told me to call them back after I had service restored, and that they would refund me for the amount of days that I did not have service. If it ends up being 3 to 6 months for you, you might luck out and get a really big chunk off your next few bills.

you keep the lte on? It supposedly drains the battery since it's constantly searching for lte.

no.  They told me the only way it would be free is if I sent back the phone. But then I'd lose the $200 I payed for it.  Hopefully I can sell it and pay the 350 cancellation and still make a few bucks.

How old was the phone?
Was it the first phone on the account or an upgrade?
