Does anyone know a reliable way to check if an iphone 5 is unlocked? Sprint just unlocked another one for me yesterday but Apple says its still locked and Sprint says the unlock went through.

I am on unlimited and know that I will lose it, but it's my wife's phone and she doesn't come close to even 1 MB.  Since I can't use it as a hotspot either w/o getting on a limited plan, the benefit of unlimited isn't that important.
Just remember that 1MB on a non-smartphone can lead to a few Gb on an iphone 5...

HUCA or put a foreign sim card even if you are still in the US... it should not tell you "Invalid Sim Card" if it's unlocked usually

She has an iphone that I bought a full price since she wasn't up for an upgrade.  Now that she is, I am going to upgrade her and sell the new iphone.  This plan also provides Amex protection on the full price of the phone.

Then I have no idea how she only uses 1MB on an iphone... have you permanently disabled E/3G/LTE?  ::)

I meant 1GB, but she's virtually always on wifi at work or at home.

Makes more sense... In any case I would hold off on using your upgrade now... If you wait another month or two you can upgrade to the iPhone 5S/6 or even the Galaxy S4 next month. You'll get a good extra $100 at a minimum for a brand new model

I thought the new iphone5s or 6 wasn't coming out until Sept.  Wouldn't the iphone always sell for more than an Android (even if the Android is better)?

A NEW high end 'just released' Android will sell more.

Not necessarily... Of course there is a larger demand for iphones but if you sell internationally you can have as much of a chance on both brands...
we might see an iphone either in june or september... seeing the S4 coming out next month, I wouldn't be surprised to see a 5S soon after

My phone will be tied to Verizon, would that limit my possibility of sending international?  I don't really care as long as I get paid.

Depends if the phone can be unlocked or not. It shouldn't limit it too much IMHO.  If you can get an S4 for example before they are released in other countries and sell international  you may do well.

It doesn't matter what the carrier is, as long as it is unlocked. I know Name Changed unlocks at&t phone easily for $3 but I am not sure about Verizon. On the other hand the iPhone 5 from Verizon is already unlocked even if you buy the subsidized model ($199) so you might want to buy that one because I don't thing they'll do the same mistake twice... That of course is if you really want to sell internationally... other wise you just need to find a verizon buyer...

Not exactly. You'll always do better with an ATT phone since they run on GSM and have sim card slots.

Right, but we're talking about all Verizon phones, not just the iphone 5.

Not really... in this case we are talking about S3 and iPhone 5 who all have a sim card slot... in addition, given the fact that a verizon iphone 5 can work with at&t and other gsm networks and comes already unlocked, I would think that the verizon iphone 5 is a better pick to resell than an at&t iphone 5...

Do iphones no longer come with the sim ejector pin's? My last few iphone 5 and 4S did not have one anywhere in the box.
