Had you seen a Palestinian with a Gun you would have not been around to tell us the story :D
The "typical" Palestinian doesn't carry a gun

I was discussing this war with a Muslim and he said just look at what the Israeli leaders hold and that shows why they persecute the Palestinians with out care for human life.

“The Palestinians” would be crushed like grasshoppers … heads smashed against the boulders and walls.” ” Isreali Prime Minister (at the time) in a speech to Jewish settlers New York Times April 1, 1988

a mashup of 2 quotes from Shamir

Quote
''Anybody who wants to damage this fortress and other fortresses we are establishing will have his head smashed against the boulders and walls.''

Quote
''We say to them from the heights of this mountain and from the perspective of thousands of years of history that they are like grasshoppers compared to us.''

Really? Cause I've never seen a Palestinian in real life holding a gun, but I've seen plenty of Israeli's holding guns yelling death to all arabs. Don't know what alternate reality you're living in

I suppose I was referring specifically to how Jews and Arabs seem to respond to death. At every Palestinian funeral that I have seen pictures of, there are tons of masked Muslims carrying guns and cursing Jews. Not so from what I've seen of Jewish funerals... Please correct me with pictorial evidence if I am mistaken

And as for the quote from Raphi Eitan; I don't think it's fair to quote a general trying to boost his soldiers' morale. Case in point - General Patton :)

What does the US get out of this?
US has a mass interest of this. In today's days, US pretty much majorly lost their power they used to have over the world:
- Europe has today their own power, in form of the EU, and they make pretty much their own decisions, although on a similar path than the US, but still they have no obligation to the US's interests.
- Arab countries have long been against US interest, and as much the US will help them, they'll still kick US in the face (see: Libya, Pakistan etc...).
- Russia and China have proven to the world that they are doing whatever they want need, support whoever they want, and will anything against US's interest.

The only place US can still prove their leadership in the world is in the Israeli / Palestinian conflict, since Israel always felt for some reason extremely tied to the US, and extremely pressured from every work a US president will say.

What you're saying just shows how pathetic the Israeli government is; They could be independent like everyone else, but they choose to be America's b**** and they're paying the price.

Now that we've agreed to a ceasefire, Mashaal is already saying they'll "accept" a retreat to 1967 borders + Jerusalem as the capital of their state + "Palestinian" right of return. See what concessions do for us? Zilch, nada, zero!

100%

Israel has done the biggest mistake by not being independent. Now, they had a chance to prove once and forever their independence, after the world was not so harsh against them, + the world didn't get chilly to hear civilians dying any longer, after all this Arab spring. But they foolishly got pressured by Obama / Clinton = US.
They pretty much lost their chance.

I don't buy the whole pressure thing it's time to grow some and make your own decisions. I think that's pathetic to keep on blaming the Us's pressure. Bush was against the destruction/expulsion of Gush Katif, nonetheless Israel went through with it. I'm not denying that there is pressure, but it's time to mature and make your own decisions.

Do you really believe that Israel can take on the Arab world on their own and survive?

So you mean to say that you're sort of an isolationist? Do we focus on what is right, or on self-interests?
I state that the US should and does support Israel and you ask me these questions? What am I missing?
