To open the Citi account online, you can fund with credit card. Can this be used to help meet the CC bonus spend requirements or will it show up as a cash advance/cash withdrawal?
Depends which CC is used. Do not, under any circumstances, use a Citi card.
Any tips on a good card to use? Chase? Amex?
Chase seems to be a good pick.
Don't go overboard, or you're risking A/A, one of the first DDFers to get A/A'd got A/A'd this way.
Good advice and I agree. Was only speaking to the CA issue.
Isn't it also unearned income, which can potentially push you out of the earned income credit (if you get more than 3k or so total)?
Absolutely.
Reminds you of the good ol' days?
I asked for a time machine for Christmas.
You and me both. Except I wouldn't be wasting it on messing around with this crap.
Back to the good ol' college days, huh?
Correct me if I'm wrong. 30k @2.5cpp = $750. Taxed @ 15% (12k-47k income) =$112.5 you owe the IRS. 30k real value is 1.4 cpp = $420 - $112.5 = $307.50 profit.
If there is a debit card spend component to this offer you won't be taxed on the bonus miles at all.
That'd be fine. But I still wouldn't waste my time (machine) messing around with credit cards... ever heard of AAPL? GOOG? Gold?
How about the lottery?
How does that work?
