BA website stinks!
« on: May 11, 2010, 12:47:16 AM »
I've experienced this multiple times:

Searched for travel to South America on BA's website.
Was prompted to "search partner airlines" (since BA doesn't fly from the US to South America).
Found nothing.
Finally, got on the phone with them and booked the flights.

Question:

Am I missing something here?

In the case of the AA site, once the flight is with partners it prompts you to call the reservation agents. but on BA it DOES give you the option to search with partners and STILL finds nothing until you call.
Does not say anything about reservation agents having more info or the like...

Anyone have a way to find everything available without having to call them up?

Mileage search part I don't like on any one world.

The rest of ba.com is very neat (might still stink if you want it to be. ;-). )
OW has a general problem with awards, such as cathay awards availability does not have a separate mileage booking class, but something their own system decides, so another airline has no way of checking. When calling AA or so, they will search manually and request availability by the concerned party.

Qantas is the way to go...
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Qantas shows all flights available with any OW partner??
I still have the problem that I have to get with BA on the phone to actually be able to book.
I mean most of the flights that I book with BA miles are AA flights, so I can search for availability on the AA site (no need to go to Qantas for that), but then I have to pick up the phone and deal with strikes, volcanos and whatnot (including the ruddest reps.).
I mean, I was on hold once for 109 mins before speaking to a BA rep...

with a rare exception thats the case with All the Carriers, that once you want to fly on a Member Partner you will have to call and speak to someone and a # of US carriers will charge you to do that booking even thou you couldnt do it yourself Online

eg My Succos res to TLV used CO miles but its all on Swiss, so I had to call up CO and have them book it 30 mins on Hold, at least CO doesnt change any fees for making the booking. Ive seen LOT,Brussels Air,TAP US and UA at times on CO.com but usually not LH,OS,LX or others when looking at Eurpoe or TLV
