HELP!!! amex clawed back 50k

Amex is getting worse and worse.....

Opened a amex plat and mb plat in august did the spend and received the 2x 50k points,  went ahead and closed the MB card and kept the plat open,
 i log into my account yesterday and see tht im down 50k, i sm and am told tht they gave me an extra 50k so they took it back, so i go ahead and call, the rep looks through  and tells me it was a mistake,  tht i was given an  extra referral bonus and the rep took back 50k instead of 5k, it should all be taken care of and i should see the points in my account within 24hrs.
I get a call from the same rep today that her supervisor looked it over and the points were taken back because i closed the mb plat card before 92 days so i forfeited my points...... Tried arguing...... Nothing doing!

it states nowhere in the t &c's about having the card open for a min amount of time or risk losing the points.   just stick with that.   breach of contract.   fraudulent.   violation of consumer rights.    etc etc

Now its the 92 day bonus clawback rule?  Wow, where do they come up with this stuff - is it possible the system saw the other Plat bonus and thought you only deserved one, but the account closure was just their way of explaining it I wonder.

spoke to supervisor, was told that i never qualified for the points since one cant receive points for the same card within 12 months BLA BLA BLA, he appolagiezed for the mistake, but the points taken were just correcting the mistake

That makes more sense.  Anyone who slipped through the cracks in last few months might want to think about redeeming their points before AMEX goes retroactive on ya.

Could be just a fluke, I say better safe than sorry. 

I remember the early reports that AMEX started enforcing bonus rules were dismissed as being flukes as well...

Incidentally Delta once clawed back 155,000 miles from my skymiles account due to repeated MR conversion bonuses.  The account balance today is still -155,000 miles     (I have another account) I guess that has also made me prone to using up points and miles as quickly as possible when I sense trouble.

Miles accounts are way different then credit cards.your cc can charge you if they try to make a claw back and the points aren't there a miles account doesn't necessarily have any real info on you

the mistake never happened, 1st rep said tht i got a 10k referral bonus instead of 5k but tht never showed on my account,
the only scrutiny i might have gotten is, if referrals always get manually posted then they might have looked at my account to add the refer other then tht i have no clue since i havent contacted amex at all
