Home Security Systems, ADT VS Life Shield
« on: November 16, 2012, 01:54:45 PM »
I am looking into installing a security system in my home ADT is very expensive for the monthly monitoring fee and their devices are also pretty pricey but at least that's a one time fee. Anyone know anything about Life Shield? They're monitoring fee is $30 vs $43 (ADT) and they're devices are pretty cheap.. I would be paying $280 for 2 motion sensors and 13 window sensors, the keypad... vs ADT where im paying 270 for only 3 window sensors, only one motion sensor, and the Keypad.
The ADT price i would be paying is with 10% discount for USAA. Both companies also have apps for smartphones so you can control the systems from anywhere...

Not everyone knows this but these days some alarm companies can provide a wireless cellular alarm connection, so that if you do not have a landline or if they snip the line it will still work.
It's what is on the outside that matters

Any insight from forum members on best route to go for a security system/monitoring system on a rental unit in Brooklyn? We seem to have had an intruder recently in the middle of the night who fled as soon as he heard us call the police. Thank g-d no one  was hurt and nothing was taken.  Apt is wired with a camera already, but no dvr.

Short barreled 12 gauge should do the job.

I once used a small battery operated kit that sticks to doors and windows. Definitely makes some noise when opened but easily disabled...
