FYI, I called the number on the rebate, and they said you can send multiple items in one rebate envelope.

too late I sent 4 envelopes so far and I'm not done yet!
Kohl's rebates are probably quasi legit but w/ TigerDirect they will be trying to get out of every one!  ::)

WHat's the requirement for avoiding tevila? Is it that it wouldn't work, or that it's something only an expert would be able to do? (I know, I know, this isn't a halacha thread, but it IS a thread for a few electric appliances that almost everyone will want to toivel).

Just put the while thing in the mikvah and don't use for two days after and it will be fine (except if it has an lcd)

It must be disasembled in a way that requiers a maaseh uman to fix. . Simply taking out a screw is not gonna work.

Excuse my ignorance but isn't the problem that a non Jew may have "owned" it (in a sense) in the first place?

My Rav said that if it can't be taken apart it doesn't have to be toiveled.
Because...? (I know there are heterim, interested to know what he was domech on)

Quote
He did say to turn it on to the hottest it goes before using it.
For what purpose?

Not to get off topic, but these are 2 seperate things, "Tevila" is something completely different then "Hag'oloh" and one doesn't cover for the other (if & when both are required)

The griddle says on the box something about being able to completely submerge, easy to wash etc... (just take the control part off). Dont know about the fryer, but assume just toivel and let dry for 24 hours. Did that with the grill. Had no problem using it after.

I am one hundred percent certain that there is a misunderstanding between you and your Rov.
I implore you to clarify this with him.

The teveila is only required on items owned by a Jew-purchased from a non Jew. Say you visit a non jew you may drink from his glass-ie a hotel etc.

I think he means that if it can't be taken apart and it will be ruined if toiveled, then you need not toivel. I once heard of such a p'sak, though I don't remember where.
