With a balance transfer check. Says it can be used anywhere.

Is it worse to the tune of $655 a year? I'm currently paying 6.55% on that 10k.

A good CL could be worth much more than that, heck, one app-o-rama could be worse than that.

Ink cards give 15 months 0% and balances there won't hurt your score.

Can I justify paying off a 10k student loan with a business card? And do they give balance tranfer checks?

Is there a BT fee though?

Not within the 1st 30 days:

-Slate, No annual fee. No balance transfer fees for 30 days and 0% APR on purchases and balance transfers for 15 months.
-You can try sending a secure message to Chase after getting the card to ask for a $75 bonus.

Slate it actually 60 now.

But that will hurt your score.

Vs. Ink which has a BT fee but won't hurt your score.

Different question.

I know I can get the Slate and use it to pay off 10k of my student loans. I plan on repaying it in full in 15 months, when the promo ends. Given that I owe the money to the bank anyway, is it worse for my credit/utilization ratio to owe it on a balance transfer, or to simply owe it as a student loan? Or does it not matter?
Balances on CC hurt your score more than on loans.

I decided that I want to apply for a Slate card and do a balance transfer. My lender said that I can only do a BT with them if I get a check from Chase, and not any other way.

I called Chase's app department, and they said that they don't know if Chase Slate gives BT checks. I went to a Chase branch, and they said the same. Does anyone here know if I can get BT checks from Chase Slate within the first 60 days?

How do you know theyll give you a high enough CL on the slate...  about 6 months ago .. before I started reading up on this stuff and entering the game I only had a freedom card and a slate .. but only had a 4,000 CL on the slate... since then I'v opened up 3-4 chase cards and have received CL of over 10k on each one.. so not sure if they give a lower CL on slate because they know its a card for carrying a balance or not...
Of course this was before I read about shifting CL's and all that... I'm still not sure if they diffrentiate a slate card from the rest and make it difficult or not  to shift CL's there ... However, that Ink card is a business card so you may get a much higher CL on it . Has anyone ever shifted CL onto a Slate?
Pleas hold. Your call will be answered in the order it was received.

+1 friend has exact same question. He has existing chase accounts and wants to do a BT from another loan, will he be able to shift CL over from his other Chase CC to expand his CL with slate for the BT?

Was your friend able to get checks from Chase to pay off the loan? Some lenders won't accept anything other than a check.

Just spoke to Chase. They said that you can transfer a credit line to Slate, but you cannot get checks until the account is open for at least 90 days. As the zero fee period ends at 60 days, I don't think I'll be applying for this card.
