New Laptop
« on: May 15, 2010, 09:55:49 PM »
i came across this laptop @ best buy. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/HP+-+Laptop+with+Intel%26%23174;+Core%26%23153;+i3+Processor+-+Biscotti/9769412.p?id=1218170030050&skuId=9769412
it looks like a pretty good one and the price is very cheap. does anyone know how the starwood warranty works on laptops? do i just need to buy it on my starwood card and i get a free warranty without buying the extra warranty from best buy?

I dont think the starwoods warranty covers laptops at all.  I think it only covers "appliances"

Call American Express and ask them

on all purchases, starwood amex doubles the manufacturer warranty, for up to a year

Chances are your if the screen cracks or you drop it, or you spill orange juice on it and fry the motherboard, HP doesn't cover that. I would assume that Amex would only extend the HP warranty. If this is the case, try getting a warranty from squaretrade.com with ADH. Use the coupon code THIRTY30 and you'll get a 3 year extended super warranty for $120. You should note, there is a deductable (I think $50) on all ADH claims. Good luck!

Accidental Damage from Handling (ADH) covers you from spilt liquids and dropped or damaged items. It's exactly what you need, whether you carry your laptop to work, bring your digital camera on vacation, or take your cell phone and MP3 player everywhere you go.

There is a $50 deductible when claiming accidental damage on Cell Phones only; SquareTrade has waived the deductible for all other ADH claims. There is no deductible if your issue occurred during normal use. ADH only covers new items - see complete details here.

ADH is only offered at time of initial warranty purchase, and can not be added once the Care Plan has been purchased.

 I got this from https://www.squaretrade.com/htm/pop/popup_ADP_option.html

(Make sure not to spilt anything on it ;)

and if you buy a warranty today (May 25), use the coupon "decoration" to get the warranty for $110.
