PS  I am not looking for any lecture on how i'm an idiot.

Bottom line, if it is too good to be true then it most likely is.
My brother once called an ad for a car that was on a legit car site, so he assumed the ad was also legit, basically a honda accord for well below market value. The seller wrote that they are being deployed overseas and need to sell it immediately. After calling me I told him to ask for the VIN so we can check out the car history, never got a response after that.
But before my brother called me he almost sent him money via Western Union and the guy was even going to drop off the car on the east coast even though he lived near a Kentucky army base... basically, anyone with a little experience would have realized right away it was a scam...

Were you kind enough to flag the posts on CL so some others don't get duped too?

I have been down the Craigslist road, i'm telling you now, ALL SALES ON CRAIGSLIST NOT DONE FACE-TO-FACE ARE SCAMS, THERE'S NO EXCEPTIONS TO THE RULE. It may seem fair and a  good deal, IT"S A SCAM.

Shipping transactions are done through eBay or Amazon... NEVER CL

Disclaimer: I really shouldnt say ALWAYS a scam, but rather 99.99999999999999999, that leaves a .0000000000000000001 chance of this guy being legitimate.

I've bought a car with a friend and was scammed to, the seller fled and never saw him again.. a lesson learned, will never make that mistake again.

called twice both reps including one supervisor now say they cant know if the seller has a balance in their account  but i should rest assured if and when i win the case PayPal will refund me and either take the money out of sellers account or put a -1500 balance on it
If there not sure if there's money in the accnt then something is wrong, they should and could see all the details in another's accnt, and even should the guy have taken all the money out already what good is to put a debit of 1500$? They could put a debit for $10,000 ,whats that going to do for you?
If there's no money I couldn't care less what hold they will put, it seems like no money around with the seller, and if so I would take it further with amex, you don't want to go through yomtov with a $1500 loss to think about, go for amex.

they said that even if there is no money in the account once I win the case, PayPal will lay out the money and pay me and they will (try) to get reimbursed from the seller

ETA.
B"H! The full amount was refunded by PayPal.

OT.
In the past I have been buying travel advice aka (GPUs)on CL after what happened here I don't think I can bring myself to risk it.
Any where else I can purchase travel advice from ? eBay is ridiculously expensive.

Craigslist started charging $5 to post in certain categories.
Smart move although I think $5 is too expensive

even if it's a good site where they don't charge how many people actually know that site or heard of that site?
For example Craigslist almost every guy out there heard of it. When your looking for something first thing that comes to your head is Craigslist.
For example swappa it's been around for quite some time with amazing prices, amazing place to sell but how many people heard of it vs eBay and Amazon and other sites are much more famous, so that takes the cake when trying to sell phones, yes even though it's more expensive to sell, the same applies with Craigslist you might have a better chance of selling it on Craigslist and pay the $5 fee versus selling on some site where hardly anyone heard of it

Checked out Craigslist last night and I must say car shopping is a much more pleasant experience.
I had stopped using CL being that it took too long to filter through the spam
