Actually it's the same tshuva as before (microphone), but in the last piece, he learns out the din to hearing aids too.

I did skip over to the middle to where I saw RSZ quoted, and I see now that when he quotes RSZ it isn't 100% clear that he will be matir a microphone. But it does seem that Chacham Ovadia was matir based on RSZ, and you haven't brought proof yet that RSZ assurs.

Not sure exactly how Nest works, but from what I understand the sensors that are there don't necessarily directly turn the thermostat on and off, rather it tells the system when you come and go. The idea is that the house will preheat or precool the house before you walk in so that you come to a house with the perfect temperature. Though thinking about it, leaving the house might directly turn it off.

Either way, I'm not sure if I understand the system correctly, or if there would even be a heter the way I described it to be.

Yes, but read up on it- I barely described any of the features.

It's cool and it saves money so it practically pays for itself. If you have a small home not worth it as much but it's still cool.

I agree it is cool.  I just don't see how (even for a larger home) it saves money over a regular programmable thermostat.

I enjoyed this article, discussing the differences http://lifehacker.com/what-can-a-smart-thermostat-do-that-mine-can-t-already-472975733

"if the thought of manually adjusting the thermostat every time you leave, every time you get home, and thinking about whether you should change it for the amount of time you'll be gone running errands makes you roll your eyes, they may be worth the money you'll spend to get the savings back in the long run."

because it calculates how long it takes to get to a desired a temperature (esp for me with radiators in my house), my heat costs have been cut drastically. A lot of people will turn down the  temp on their thermostat thinking it will make it cooler faster or the other way to make it warmer faster. The nest helps prevent that. Since it learns your habits and can set an auto schedule (if you dont want to set one manually) it will have the desired temp at the desired time instead of only turning on at the time you set, like other thermostats. I have 2 of these in my house, and I highly recommend them. I have seen drastic improvements, esp in the summer with my A/C system.

If you turn of the sensors how does it learn your schedule?
