If you turn of the sensors how does it learn your schedule?

It has the whole week to figure that out.
Granted, it would be annoying to remember to turn the sensor on/off each week
Live forever or die trying.

If you turn of the sensors how does it learn your schedule?
By you constantly changing the thermostat temps at certain times....it doesn't only learn with the sensors....it learns by the changes you make to it as well...
I have nothing witty to write here....

It will never know what to do on Shabbos. For all I know it may decide to shutdown for 24 hours!

I am strongly considering getting this. Only thing is I assume would need two since I currently have two different thermostats in two different zones.
Anyone here actually use this that can chime in on actual $$ amounts of energy savings?
Cnet's review says he saved $70 in one year just from heat (he has no AC). I'd imagine that would mean I could save around $150 a year making this a no brainer.

I just discussed this with R' Forscheimer. Obviously if you remember to shut off the sensor every friday you are fine. My question was A)Are you required to shut it off every week B)What if you forget to shut it off one particular week.

He said that the sensor could be a problem for Shabbos since it is Nicha Lei for the changes that it will make based on its sensing and therefore the answer to A is that you should definitely attempt to remember to shut off the sensor every Friday.
In regard to B, I asked him -  if there is a way to setup that there should be a manual override every Shabbos and therefore even if the sensor is on and sensing it will know not to make changes to the system based on its sensing - he answered that while it would still be better to shut off the sensor every week, if you forget one week it's fine since the sensing isn't accomplishing anything beneficial to you.

Anyone know if it's possible to set up (one time) manual override for of the sensing for every shabbos?

If my thermostat is in the dining room which is rarely used during the week, will the sensor just assume that noone is home and freeze us?

Also, it will be a pain to shut of the sensor every friday. It may save a few bucks in the long run but probably not worth the inconvenience.

Seems like more headache than it's worth due to shabbos.
I'll stick with a cheap programmable unit.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

You can make a drop of money getting two of these and selling them on Ebay.

Total cost to buy 1 including taxes is $166 and they are selling for approx. $225 on Ebay.

Just got my Nest, and im getting error N23. Then I got the low battery error, in which nest posted on their site that its a big bug and they are downgrading everyone to firmware 3.5.3 which should solve the issue, but I'm on 3.5.3 and I have this problem, woke up today to a cold house.....
Calling nest involves almost a 2 hour wait time to speak to a rep...
I'm near requesting a RMA

Turn on ure your heat and then take the Nest off the wall and plug it into a standard Android charger to fully charge it.  Once charged put it back on the wall and shut off wifi to conserve battery.

I never had this issue BH.

This is the main reasoning I am avoiding getting a Nest for now. Too many reports of the thermostat failing and causing freeze related damage or equipment damage.

Luckily you were home when the thermostat malfunctioned.

I don't think you will need to charge it every day and hopefully they will fix the problem soon.

I have never  had to charge mine

I never waited more than 10 minutes to speak to a rep.
Maybe you have an issue with your internet? I would suggest restarting the nest. This does not reset all the schedules.
