If you don't notice it then nest is a great product. Only drawback I noticed.

I’d like to express my hate for the nest. Terrible piece of tech. Hate that the display is always off, hate that it’s so unintuitive and can never get the temperature right. Ecobee is definitely the way to go.

If you live in NY, you can get the Nest for free thru ConEd but it will take a year until you get back the full amount. Plus you'll get another $85 every year when you Enroll in their Smart Usage program

Are there any Shabbos issues with the basic Google Nest Thermostat? I'm referring to the most basic one, not the learning or E.

I have a Nest and am not happy with it. I find that length of time from when the heat turns off (because the desired temperature was reached) until when the heat turns on again, is too infrequent. To illustrate, instead of turning on every 15 minutes for 7 minutes, it turns on every 30 minutes for 12 minutes. I don't know if the thermostat is not properly recognizing the change in temperature, or despite recognizing the change, it is set not to turn on the heat until the actual temperature is X amount off from the temperature I set it to. Either way, the result is that at times I am too cold, while at other times, I am too hot. Does anyone else have this issue? Is there some setting that can be adjusted to make it more responsive?
I am sometimes accused of overthinking things. I am still mulling over whether that accusation has merit.

Thanks for sharing! @Dan seemed only to have the issue with the additional room sensor. I may be having that experience with the actual thermostat. The thermostat is placed in a hall, and I spend a lot of time in an adjacent room. It is possible that the room has poor insulation and therefore needs more contact adjustment, but I have seen the temperature on the thermostat below the set temperature, and the heat was not yet turned on. Does anyone know if the thermostat also has a 10-minute delay?

This is a known flaw they will not acknowledge. You need to adjust the heat anticipator which Nest does not allow.
Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

Good to know I am not the only one...is there any workaround?

The Nest is hot garbage.
Get a Honeywell.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

I believe there’s only one issue, that the screen turns on when you walk up to it.
To fix it there’s a setting that it should only turn on of touched
