Did you ever use DiraDirect? Doesn’t look like a honest company.
they charge you $$$ to view the contact info, but there is no way of knowing if they are legitimate ads or some old stale ads from years ago just to entice you to pay.  Quite a few of the listings I’m pretty sure are not correct.

+1

It is ridiculous that they charge the renter to view the contact info. IMO the landlord/property owner should pay to either list  an apt. or pay a commission if the apt. gets rented. I don't like their business model at all.

why is it ridiculous to charge the renter over the property owner?

When you buy a home the realtor gets paid by the seller. In real estate in general the owner pays broker fees.

Diradirect is capitalizing on Americans who want to rent apartments and are 5,000 miles away. They figure the landlords in Israel will never pay a fee to list their apartments, rather they rely on word of mouth, hanging signs in yeshiva etc. So, they charge prospective  renters to view apartments, being that they have no choice, because the landlords now have a free site to post the apartments on they capitulate and pay. Meanwhile the service is being provided to the landlords and being paid for by the tenants.

I don't care enough to, fell free to run with it.

I forgot to add to my previous post, imagine eBay started charging to view listings? How ridiculous would that be?

Now, if they would properly vet all listings and only provide qualified listings I might think differently. However, I would venture to say that >75% of the listings are rubbish.

Exactly.  I once Joined Swap a-lease which charges also to view the ads, and out of the 10 cars I choose 9 of them where expired or not available anymore. I called swap a lease  and they refunded my money! Could be they would do the same here, but I highly doubt it when clearly their website has apt that are not in existent anymore.

Not true. Some of them are years old. I know this for a fact becuase I know one of the apt that keep showing up. THe person who listed it no longer even owns it.

Prices are not inline with the market rate (some are a bit too cheap) as if to lure in customers. It reminds me of some of the unholy websites that keep popping up on my yahoo page as an ad of some People in my zip code that are dying to talk to me........."Vihamayven Yovin"
