How to download videos from You Tube

anyone know a easy way with safari or chrome etc? used to do it via chrome extension, but they removed them from chrome store

Weird that no one recommended Keepvid.com.
I personally wouldn't trust anything that you need to download and install on your computer. Keepvid is web based, and uses client-side java applets to capture and save the video in a choice of available formats (youtube stores it in a variety of file types, from low resolution flv to HD mp4.
