when making a points reservation with Club Carlson you can put a different name for the guest info, but they also say "The Club Carlson member must be traveling to qualify for the Bonus Award Night." does anyone know if I'll have any issues with this? or should I just do the regular, and add the other person to the reservation?

I've done it both ways but YMMV

So I see this card is barely discussed on DDF and after reading thru thread I see why, but I was introduced to this card as my friend just used 3 of these for two week euro trip capitalizing on the 2nd night free (stayed in every city even amount of nights) so for some can be pretty sweet...

Do any of their cards waive the AF for the first year?

I tried getting the $50 af waived on lower one and learned from multiple reps that it is waived for club carlson employees. I haven't scoured the Web yet but I'm sure there is some shtick for us to capitalize on that. Any more info on this would be appreciated.

Also, I know Us Bank is pita, but I applied for lower hoping to be able to upgrade to higher (obviously with 2nd signup bonus) any experience in that regard? How long do I have to wait? (haven't heard any successful 2bm stories)

I got the lower card a few months ago with 50 or 60k bonus points, and annual fee of $50 was waived first year. I do not work there

They increased my wife's $1k biz card CL & now it's $6K. Didn't ask for it and love the new CL
