Uruguay Master Thread

Anyone ever been to Uruguay? (Montevideo)

thats the next trip IY"H in a month - just booked tickets :)
will be there for one week - and in Punta Del Este

I have been to Uruguay recently but only to Colonia. Where did you book your tickets from BA? How long do you want to be there for?

Regular AA.com booking. Got a good deal. It's not the season for mileage.

Never been but my understanding is that there is not much to do in Montevideo. Punta on the other hand is a nice resort town with a great Beit Chabad :)

$718 from NYC to Uruguay, valid till end of March 2015 on AA.  Uruguay is one of the few southern South Americans countries that don't charge any huge visa fees, like Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay. Punta del Este is a world famous resort city, located just a few hours bus from Montevideo. Montevideo is also just a few hours ferry ride or very short flight to Buenos Aires, especially great if you already paid the fee and still have free travel to there.
