It would be really nice if there was a blogging software that could be formatted like reddit.

I hired an SMF developer to make an SMF wiki.
Wow, didn't know that. Much appreciated!

which has far too many boards as it is for my tastes.
As if anyone cares what your taste is.

Deals and Goods for Sale have nothing to do with one another.
One is deals found on sites or stores, one is personal selling.  I don't know how that gets mixed up.

GD and JS is pretty simple. If it's a DO, site suggestions, or real world discussions that can stay on topic then it's GD.
If it's politics or anything else shooting the breeze it's JS.
I understand the differences between all 4. My point was that the differences are pretty minute, so why not combine them? Additionally, there are so few discussions each day in Goods for Sale, that I don't think it would hurt Deals to combine them. They're all about getting a good deal for something - just from different sources. For GD and JS as well, I understand the difference, but both of those threads have so few daily posts, that combining them would just make the homepage simpler.

Until a developer is hired or we figure out how to edit the look of things a bit, I would suggest (and I know these are big changes) to change the homepage to 5 boards, in this order.

~ START HERE (in capitals to catch the noobs' eyes) with a caption of "All the info you need to learn how to use the forums." This board should only have locked threads that each focus on a specific "beginner's" topic and are compiled ahead of time from the beginner's threads already in existence and with editing/review help from whoever wants. There could be a thread to discuss what content should be included in these threads. Perhaps even having a Help Me (unlocked) thread in this board for all random Q's would be a good idea too.

~ Credit Cards - second as it's the most popular board.

~ Up in the Air - third as this is where you go once you've collected you've got your cc's.

~ On the Road - fourth as this is the next place you'd go after getting points and booking your flight.

~ Trip Reports - fifth as it's the next logical step once your flight/hotel/car is booked.

~ Deals/For Sale - another nice benefit of DDF - great deals! both from public sites and from people.

~ General Discussion - the heart of the DDF community - off topic discussions for seriousness and leisure.

ETA: I forgot about Tech Talk! I'd put that somewhere towards the end, not sure in which exact spot.

On a side note, I don't see the point of having
1) General Discussion AND Just Shmooze
2) Deals AND Goods for Sale

I think those 4 can become 2 and it would help declutter the homepage a lot.

What we need is more local mods.

The mods should be responsible for updating the the wikis in their assigned boards.

I saw something about XDA just today I think but I can't remember where or what XDA is...

I would also love to edit the wiki in the Start Here thread. I think there are waaay too many links in that wiki. But one thing at a time.

Someone should be hired and paid a salary to: Edit wiki's, organize boards, moderate, direct n00bs to the correct thread, answer PM's regarding ddf organization etc. etc.

I think it's a pretty important point,  that is hard to see wiki's on tapatalk.

Secondly,  I think the search feature is not very good.  There has been a few times that I wanted to bring up a thread I remember reading,  but it was a while ago so too many pages back in the board to find.  Tried a few times with search but couldn't find it.

Lastly,  even if wiki's do help,  I think some Sub forums would help.  In cc, breaking it up to chase,  Amex,  citi. .. Would save Alot of time.
In up in the air.  Break it up to the alliances.

There's a ton of great info,  but if it's old it's hard to find

Maybe a beginner's thread for each forum should be stickied in the forum

I think it's a pretty important point,  that is hard to see wiki's on tapatalk.
The only wiki I remember having a hard time reading on Tapatalk is the Credit card comparison which is divided in a few columns and on Tapatalk it has no patron, other then that I don't recall having any problems with the wikis.

Maybe add a "Wiki Contributions" stat to user's profiles (like the Main Site Deals stat), to incentivize people to edit and contribute to wiki's
