When booking award travel using LH more seats are available than with other *A partners. Is it booking into I class or some other class? I don't see any I class on any days with LX but there do seem to be awards available, trying to figure out what's real and what's phantom

CMIIW, LH has better avaialability than other *A partners on its own metal. LX and OS are considered LH metal AFAIK. Did you call?

You are correct, and I do see availability online at miles and more, but when I call they don't see it. I'm trying to figure out if it's phantom, and when I check expert flyer or gds I see there is no I class on any lx flight. I'm wondering if they are using a different class for their own award availability (they must be) and what it is

they are using a hidden I class that doesn't show up on a GDS

When searching expert flyer for a certain flight I'm seeing I2 but searching United shows availability for only one, any ideas?

ETA: And weirdly despite still showing me i2 in flight search expert flyer is also not showing availability for 2 using award search

Anyone have experience with SQ trying to book *A award with mixed class? I'm trying to book USA to MIDDLE EAST in I, which should be 57.5k.  There is one leg within USA on UA that is only available in X (rest of flights are on TK in I) and the SQ rep keeps pricing it at 70k (i.e. 12.5k UA in X and 57.5k TK in I). I tried explaining that it's a Business class redemption with a voluntary downgrade for one leg, but she said the system won't recognize it as one ticket if it's in 2 classes. HUCA and DROPR or is this a dead end with SQ?

Very recent experience with SQ. They see different availability for TK than I see online at UA, AV, AC and possibly even TK! The odd thing is that it seems to be both ways. Not seeing space available elsewhere, and seeing space which isn't shown elsewhere (not phantom. Booked and ticketed!)
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!
