You can fly from TLV via LHR to MEL/SYD.

I told you in the beginning of the post to trust me, why do you keep on going in circles and don't just pick up the phone.

About elal, I believe they are what I call a semi partner, so you can use AA to book elal, however it won't be a standard by them.
But, say AA 6006, operated by etihad going from AUH-JFK cannot be booked with AA miles, as they are only codeshare (even less then semi partner).

Aa with elal, is about the same connection as CO with Virgin.
When I called AA I was told that I can't go through LHR because routing is not allowed through Europe. I informed the rep that i can book it on Qantas.com. She just said that different airlines have different routing rules. Is this true or should I just call back?

It is true. Middle East to South Pacific is only allowed via Asia when booking with AA Miles

TLV-HKG on El Al and then HKG-MEL on Qantas or Cathy Pacific.
Shame that AA has this routing rule because the availability for premium class on El Al is terrible.

You can do TLV-BKK-MEL/SYD as well. Availability is pretty good on El Al for TLV-BKK in Business. Another possibility would be Royal Jordanian to BKK or HKG

Does El Al not release F tickets or do they just sell out straight away? I've checked tons of dates both BKK-MEL and HKG-MEL and couldn't find a single seat.
Is flying Royal Jordanian safe?

El Al does not allow F bookings using partner miles. Only Y and J.

Ask "Moish". He enjoyed it a lot!

as safe as flying Turkish or any other Carrier, and youd find tons of Jewish Israelis on the flight with you as well, since its usually alot less then ElAls prices

Ive done TK with layovers to/from TLV of apx 3 hrs never had any problem in the airport. And from some trip reports on here others who went into IST itself are still alive and well

-A great search engine is ANA.
-You need to first signup for an ANA account:
https://cam.ana.co.jp/psz/amc/jsp/regist0_e.jsp

-You can then use this link to search for Star Alliance award flights:
https://aswbe-i.ana.co.jp/p_per/sky_ip_per_en/preAwdSearchLogin.do

-Click "Use Star Alliance Member Airlines"
Perform the search, for example type in JFK to TLV.

-By default only nonstop flights are shown, for this route the Continental flights from EWR to TLV are shown.
Click "connecting flights" to display more flights.
Each leg will have:
- Which means that the class selected doesn't exist
x Which means awards are not available
OK Which means awards are available

Why does it sometimes say ok (ie seats available) but the selct button is faded (ie not applicable)?

How do you get around that?

That's for the return, you first need to pick an outbound flight.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

On ANA it has to be booked at least 7 days in advance, if it is less than 7 days then it wont allow you to select.
