Im looking in to 6 tickets on LH for VCE-NYC via FRA, UA showing 5 seats for first leg and six for second,

Is UA the best Redemption for LH?
Will submitting 2 redemptions on 2 computers same time have chances of picking up sixt seat?
What can I add in at final destination (NYC)?

i have 2 options
1.buisness classThai airways from SYD-BKK-FRA-MAN 85k + $100
2. CX from SYD-BNE-HKG-LHR-MAN. right now only SYD-BNE-HKG is available for buisness. 60k + $200
and see if availabilty opens up from HKG-LHR. but pay as if I am flying buisness.
What should I do?

When looking for tickets on United, can adding nearby airports limit whats being shown from that specific airport?

If I book a revenue ticket with Avianca and I only want to take 1 direction: The 1 way ticket is exorbitant. What happens if I book a RT and the return is completely refundable-can I cancel the return? If yes, do I have to wait until after I fly the outbound?

Seemed so, but someone else (loosely) said that "taxes are taxes, some award programs cover more, some less. Not all award programs have to pay the same fees on your behalf as others."

Short answer: Won't work.

Generally fare rules go by most restrictive fare, so if the outbound is non-refundable the entire ticket is non-refundable. Even if the entire ticket is refundable, often once travel has commenced there is no refund, or if there is, they generally reprice as a oneway fare and refund the difference. The only hope is IRROPS, which I'm not even sure AV would refund for

Aeroplan does weird things with fee calculation.
Many times it works in your favor

No Amount Paid for Air Transportation

As a general rule, all amounts paid for the air transportation of persons are subject to tax. Where no amount is paid for air transportation, such as when the transportation is obtained by the redemption of frequent flyer miles, the transaction is not subject to the percentage tax, the domestic segment tax, or international facilities tax.
