It takes 2-4 days. No YQ on UA.
Thank you.  And thanks for confirming no YQ. (I wasn't sure I understood correctly.  What about on Air Canada- that's another open ticket choice on this route?)

Now I need advice from the gut of those with experience. Do I transfer and wait, or will I likely lose the seat by then so I shouldn't bother?

You can transfer to SQ and it will cost you 40k RT. It transfers much faster IME.

No YQ.  You may even try to call them in and ask them to hold the seats for you, YMMV.

;D   thanks again.  (I tried on DDF, didn't think of google)
I could call SQ to hold the seats while I make myself an account and do the transfer?  would ANA hold it for me? Who transfers to SQ, and how long does it take?

You call SQ once you have an account. ANA does not hold. MR, Starwood, and UR. UR is over night I think. If you transfer now, it might be there tomorrow morning.

I transferred (UR) 40K to SQ.  They just came through and I made the booking!  $114 singapore dollars, though.  $91 american.  (Did I over pay?)

I have the Singapore confirmation code.  It seems to only work when I'm logged in. How do I get the UA and AC confirmation codes?

That isn't avoiding it, it's just reducing it. No way to totally avoid it,  short of not flying ex-LON.
$116 vs $20

FYI. UR-SQ took me evening to next day late afternoon
TY points - SQ. 36 hrs.
SQ held a ticket for me for 3 days after a few HUCA.

You and AJK are too technical.
Take a step back and see what the poster's intention is, not the language they happened to write.

:D   You're the one who told me to do this!

OK, I'll call.
edit:  I tried again and now it works.  (either I made a mistake before, or it was too soon after booking.)

Thanks ilherman for all your help!

It's not really $20, because you pay the German departure tax. I did it once when I had 3 pax in biz, and I saved quite a lot (biz tax is double). I flew to DUS with BA (not telling them about my connection). I picked up my luggage in DUS and on I went to LH F.

I think the cheapest departure tax in Europe is from Poland, so next time I would try BA to WAW and then home to NY.

Family member flying United Class K round trip TLV-EWR-YUL

I want to credit them to a *A airline where i can combine them with mine (like BA household account)

Are there any programs in *a that allow that and are worth crediting to?
