That makes no sense. What logic is that? Reverse married segments? Why can't that just add the admittedly available flight to the record?

Because its not available. They always have to do an auto search first. When TA play around with married segments they have to put EVERYTHING in first and THEN take out. But to put in something that does not exist is not possible.

Its not available MXP-PEK. Thats married segments. You can play around with married segments by taking out legs not by putting in.

Interesting. I always thought married meant that it's only available as connection. However, the same logic applies for two non stop flights.

It's more about origin, point of sale and inventory management than it is married segments tho.

Worth pointing out that AA had no problem marrying the segs.
But CX only released 1 MXP-HKG partner seat, the other seat needs CX miles.

"Anti married segs" are beyond frustrating. Far worse than married segs which can be split off.

As ilherman said YMMV.. Depends also what flight it is, from where to where. But I have to agree, not every flight comes back with a saver. And I believe if UA or any airline catches you doing that they can shut your account
