The only $20 donuts I've seen are from gourmet takeouts that have meat. Call something "pulled beef [food]" and up-charge

Patis Paris Brest dairy donut was delicious. Only found 1 though after going to several stores. Brought home 2 other flavors, but didn't try them.

CH had many yesterday morning. Had one, the filling was really good, the opposite of dense, light and airy.

I personally did not find the dough or toppings to be exceptional. It was very pretty looking.

It wasn't bad, but nothing "wow" like the filling. At $5.95 (IINM) it was very reasonably priced compared to the competition, especially with the 50% GCs.

I would add that for people who don't like exceptionally sweet doughnuts, they might particuarly enjoy this one.

I did write compared to the competition. I agree with you that the fancy doughnuts elsewhere feel way overpriced, but you can’t deny that’s the market.

I had a lemon something or other donut at alma on Sunday, and it was excellent. Light and airy dough with flavorful filling that wasn't heavy or rich. I don't know what they charged, but I'm sure it was like everything else on their menu, well overpriced.
