Between groveling for donations, the money going to the UAE, and the ridiculousness of spending $1 per second for some fleeting luxury, it didn't even tempt me for a second when I read the suggestion the other day.

Not that I'm not (more than) a little jealous, but a little moach shalit al halev is required.
I'm torn between good for him and how utterly ridiculous it all is.  Though I think that's exactly where he is as well.

I agree a hounderd percent that 25k is ridiculous.. But 5k sounded a little better... It would just be a present from DDF

" I think is where he goes wrong, this is his business, reviewing first class cabins is what a lot of his readers go to his site for. I think many of them benefit from his reviews and enjoy them.

He isn't asking for money but simply saying I reviewed every A380 F out there for you guys, I'm not spending $25K on a flights, if you guys want me to review it I will gladly oblige. Seems like a fair deal to me. People are paying for entertainment and a service they wouldn't have otherwise. He's a critic and being payed to critique why can't people pay for that and why can't he offer that?

He built himself up a following let him enjoy it.

Of course it is. All travel bloggers write off travel expenses that's what they are travel bloggers. The authors point was wrong, and silly to bring up. Makes him sound sour.

Listen, it is crazy. Even he said so. And I'm sure there is a part of him that can't believe it either. Meanwhile he has the followers and if people want to donate so be it. Also, he doesn't seem like he's begging to me. I'd say there was a moment of shock when he realized there was a great chance people would actually donate and donate enough.

I'll see how today goes and let you know. After today I'd say people can have a better idea.

I feel like most travel blog folllowers tend to read blogs at least once a day giving and those who will have donated will do so by today and the next few days.   Meanwhile he has tons of friends and when it comes to social media nothing surprises me anymore.

Seriously!? THIS is what his main concern is?
"Otherwise the main challenges include finding reasonable positioning flights to Abu Dhabi, and home from London. If needed I can use my own resources for these flights though." He's so nice to "if needed" offer his own resources to take those flights.
