This is really a test to see if I’m overly cynical: Is it easier to raise $25,000 miles to read a review of a guy sitting in the most luxurious airline seat, or for adopting impoverished special needs children? (Even if I don’t use sales tactics and pictures of starving kids to guilt trip folks). - See more at: http://travelisfree.com/2014/05/09/who-wants-to-pay-for-adopting-kids-no-really/#sthash.lq1ZORJ4.dpuf
And shockingly, it's easier to raise money Lucky

A response in the negative sense? No.

I think he read Ben's idea and had an "aha" moment:
No, not in a negative way.

Agreed it was more of the "aha" moment.

It's just a pitiable attempt at riding on his publicity.

The only it would be an equal comparison is if someone with equal popularity amongst parenting freaks would start the same KickStarter. There's no question at all the adoption would be easier since people fell better giving to charity than to extravagance. So what it really is a test in popularity...

Obviously this is oversimplifying it, but I guess your opinion comes down to whether you view it as throwing away $25,000 or just $1 * 25000 people.

Or look at it this way, if he would lay out the money and put the review behind a $1 paywall, I suspect most people would either pay or be inclined to pay.

So its just the other way round.

Interesting way of putting it.  If he had done this then I would have no problem with it at all.  I also highly doubt he would get close to 25k but that is not the point.

No. I just said it's an in-equal comparison since one is more prominent in it's field. It's like comparing Kosher food to non Kosher food by saying McDonalds is bigger than Sushi Tokyo.

12.5k USD = 700,000 SPG.

Heh. Never realized he got banned from UA until now.  Guess that explains a lot though.

Was wondering why he (and Gary, though I haven't heard anything with him) switched from being a UA guy to AA overnight.

Assuming it's true, seems like a very lenient punishment for stealing from UA

I don't think anyone besides lucky knows the exact punishment, could be anywhere from a closure of an MP account to an outright ban on UA flights.

Still a pretty light punishment. Online fraud is a criminal offense
Unless he agreed to repay everything he stole
