For 78,000 Qantas points, you can book El Al business class from New York (JFK) to TLV with no surcharges — that’s a nice change of pace for Qantas.

Of course, getting one of these booked might take some effort as you’ll need to call Qantas to have it ticketed over the phone and they won’t hold award space for you.

I don't read the comments and I can guess what some of them are. I thought he presented both sides and the points he made at the end is basically what Dan is saying. It seems he has changed the title also now.

Big fact he left out: plane was diverting even if the plane was full of catholics. It's elal policy. Also he gave way too much credit to the debunked violence story.

Correct, but there is a 3rd side, and that is airline policy. The most important one. He failed to fully explain, regardless of the reasoning. Also, people don't seem to understand that most religious jews, who don't know better, specifically fly elal to be accommodated, assuming it will be so because the airline shares their beliefs.
