I called BOFA they canceled the card and told me the transactions where flagged and wont processed. question is how did they get it and what should I do next?

Of course not, Why in the world would I swipe a BOFA debit if I have multiple spends to meet?
Only thing I used it for recently besides ATM is that its linked to my Target Debit (free ship+5%off-hardpull=happy wife)

I don't know how they got it, but swiping debit for purchases would (theoretically) be one way.

They can steal your CC#s too, but CCs have laws that make the CC company liable for fraud. Debit companies don't have those laws, and some people I know (who didn't catch it as soon as you did) were out the $$ for several months while the bank investigated.

+2 I am constantly trying to explain this to people when they tell me their debit card is protected and use it for most of their everyday purchases. Trying to convince them of the rewards of using a credit card is a whole other story.
