I thought they had the strictest laws.  ;)
We must hang in different groups. I know hundreds that have them and all use them.
Well, to be fair, having a foid card really doesn't do much aside from letting you into a range, and some don't even require it. Obviously you need one to buy a gun, but that's a whole separate process. Most people who have them, use them. I know when I was younger (too young to own a gun) many of my friends had them for no particular reason. Guess they thought it was cool. I only got one once I was old enough to own a gun, and go to the range alone.

This a big problem. Some look at concealed carry the same way.

I agree about the CCL, but as far as the FOID, I don't think it's as big an issue. Still not a reason to get one, but less worrisome than one who gets a CCL just to be like his friends

What's a cheap and decent .22 pistol that's in stock nowadays?

I was thinking of something like a keltec p17

Why would you want to upset someone attacking you?

Pepper spray would prob deter them more ;)

Just ask @CountValentine if you don't have 14 in the mag you aren't trying.

The other option is to shoot and miss :)

I'd imagine getting stabbed with an ice pick has some pretty decent stopping power. This would be slightly worse than that.

Plus I'm not interested in spending hundreds of dollars on bullets when hopefully 100% of bullets would just be shooting it for fun

Depends where you’re shopping..

Why would you want to upset someone attacking you?
The person you’re worried about possibly upsetting doesn’t know what you’re actually carrying, just that you’re carrying.
By that logic, if they see you have something, they should assume it’s something that can actually do damage.

Plus I'm not interested in spending hundreds of dollars on bullets when hopefully 100% of bullets would just be shooting it for fun
That’s why you get 2.
1 for self defense / damage control, and a .22 for practice / “fun”.

No experience with this scenario, but:

Officially no returns allowed on firearms (which is how I would imagine a “change payment method” would get processed).

Although if you order online and don’t pick up within allotted time frame (around 14 days), they automatically refund you and put the gun back on the shelf.
So if you go in once it’s ready and tell them what you want to do, they may be able to expedite that whole process for you sooner then the 14 days and cancel / refund original order right away and let you re-purchase.

Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

Other stores (if in stock) seem to be selling it for $80+ more, so yes.

Thanks. After a long analysis paralysis I decided to just jump and get it. I figured worst case scenario I'll sell it. I saw other people selling it in the $500 range and was having doubts whether I was comparing the same model. I guess it was a good decision :)

Nvm on the $80+, was looking at a different model. This one looks to be in the $400 range. Still a good price.

In general, finding something you like that’s in stock and not over MSRP is a good price.
