For points (as opposed to free nights), the PH is $350 more than Andaz but only 5000 extra points.
Is it the obvious choice?
Any chance Platinum status will get an upgrade at either?
Always a chance, but depends on capacity and more likely the check-in agents mood.

Is PH worth the extra points? Seems like ppl have had some positive experiences with Kosher food at Andaz and I see they have complimentary mini-bar...

Probably negligible difference. Though i have not been at either, so take with a grain of salt.

At the end we stayed at Park Hyatt. Told them on reservation form that it was for my 30th b-day (it was) and mentioned platinum status. They upgraded us to deluxe room and left chocolate cake, champagne, and happy birthday note (debated whether to tell them about Kosher, but decided against it). I loved the room, rain shower, size, etc. but would consider trying the Andaz next time d/t better location. We had trains nearby but Times Square was a walk.

If anyone is interested in mini trip report: We went Wed afternoon to rent bikes in Central Park ($12 for 2 bikes via Groupon). Nice store, nice ride. Then we went to room to shower and change for dinner. Went to Mr. Broadway (which has been redone in the last few years) because it was best restaurant for us at which we were able to use our GKR SBS certs (I had the BBQ boneless wings and BBQ brisket and loved them both; wife had some hamburger which was fine).
Next day we went to get breakfast/lunch at Milk n Honey, then went to Circle Line boat ride. We enjoyed the boat, but I would recommend getting there real early bc good seats go fast.
Spent some loose time in the middle around TimeSquare, Dave & Busters, etc.
We're from NYC but never had experience of seeing city like "tourists." Nice vacation for wife who doesn't like to travel far from children.

Stayed at the Park Hyatt last night, using a free night certificate. Was just an amazing experience. Besides for the terrible views ( which can be expected in the city ) the hotel is amazing. Their service is exceptional, and rooms are upscale, and modern. Awesome bathroom with soaking tub, rain-handle shower combination. They also have a nice indoor pool, jacuzzi, and sauna. I would definitely recommend for couple's who just need a one night break, from the business of life.
Life is as good as you make it...

Guys any recommendations on booking 4 nights hotel stay in NYC for Sept 7th-11th? Friends will be in town and their budget is $150/night. Any decent and clean hotel will work. Preferably in Manhattan or with fast & easy commute to the City.

What is OTA? Haven't find this abbreviation in acronym thread ;(
I have checked Pricelibe express deals but figured may be someone knows some specials or better ways to book inexpensive but decent hotel in NYC. I'm familiar with c/c anniversary/sign up bonuses that can be bought for under $150 but those are usually good for 1-2 nights stay as combining multiple certificates under different names might be challenging :(

The sent me this.. but seems super pricey considering they are calling it a diamond breakfast and it has much less than a free diamond breakfast.

Other NYC Hyatts hotels are more accomodating for diamond breakfasts
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Pretty sure one of the hotel amenities is a free bike to use in central park. Maybe this will help the next person.
