I am heading to NY in a few weeks.  I will be renting a car.  What neighborhood do you guys recommend staying in that is very close or near Manhattan (preferably close to or in Brooklyn as well) that i will not be paying a crazy high price to park my car at overnight.

Plenty of places in Manhattan have free street parking at night. Lower East Side for one, is close to Brooklyn. But you could even park in some areas of Midtown overnight.

I have no idea what the stair situation is like, but the rooms would be tricky due to the sensors and light situation.
Also many plug outlets are deactivated when you turn the lights off, including where they plugged the fridge into.
