It looks like i will be at the Beekman Hotel https://www.thebeekman.com/ for shabbos in May. anyone have experience on shabbos there (stairs, entrance/exits, coffee in the am?) relatedly, has anyone here davened at the Tribeca Synagogue/enjoyed their kiddush, or are there other options not too far from city hall for a nice shabbos?
That area by Beekman Street is a business office district with nothing Shabbosdig. I think you’ll be bored. Best area for Shabbos in Manhattan would be the upper West Side, from the 60’s up to the 90’s, a residential neighborhood near many Shuls. You can also walk to Central or Riverside Park.

Not sure if this is still relevant but DEFINITELY the Andaz. I loved the Andaz and with the location, thought it to be very close to the PH in quality. Marriott Marquis was fun because of location, lobby, elevators, etc, but the actual hotel was fine at best.

I davened weekday Minchas at the Tribeca Synagogue on White Street and also the Wall Street Synagogue at 48 Beekman Street, apparently near your Hotel, but was never in that area on Shabbos. I always thought the latter was closed on weekends, as all the other weekday financial district Mincha minyanim, but I just googled the WSS and they show Shabbos services. Also, if you’re up for more of a walk there are Shuls on the Lower East Side, but again I’m not familiar with any details.

Planning a July Shabbat in NYC.
Four of us -- me, DW, two teens.
Would like to do PH.
Reservation allows three people, not four, and only shows king bed.

1. What's the chance they'll "upgrade"/swap us to a room with two beds?
2. Or, would they allow two rollaways (could cite religious reasons?)?
3. Would it be too conspicuous to bring a cot? https://www.dansdeals.com/miscellaneous/walmart-coleman-30-x-80-comfortsmart-deluxe-cot-for-6-11-after-37-34-walmart-in-store-pickup-discount/

That seems to be a minority opinion around here. What was lacking, and where else would you recommend?

Dan agrees.
One agent at check in, barely any lobby space, service very unpolished I wasn’t even offered a bellboy
I would call it a nice 4* definitely not 5
1 thing that did impress me was that the room was huge, I did some sort of upgrade though so not sure what you will get

welcome to NYC. You did not go to Asia or Australia. For the price of a sign up night or using only 30k UR you will night find a better value in NYC. The location is amazing as well. Even their standard rooms are big for NYC. So if you didn't get a bellboy or had to wait at check in I would take that considering all the other good about this hotel.

It's not amazing but it's the best value for NYC by far.

Both helpful.  I’ve stayed in PH Dubai, so I won’t expect that level of service in NyC.  I care more about the space, and I’m glad to hear it should be ample.  What’s my chance of getting them to provide room with two beds instead of a king?

Paid rates in July for many 4* hotels are around $250 300 so in my humble opinion it’s not a good value

I got them to do it at check in since they wanted $75 for a rollaway but it could be because it was available or because I am a globalist and used a DSU. I was in the Junior suite double room. The beds were smallish (we each slept with a 3 or 5 year old and it was tight so it would be worse with teens)but there is a separate living area and lots of closet and storage space. The bathroom is huge as well.

I didn’t say better all I said is that for an underwhelming 5* experience I wouldn’t waste 30 k a night and would rather pay $200 for a the Lexington for example or Hilton
Just my opinion

which Hilton is $200 a night?? Again if you payed the $850 a night price then I am all for you being underwhelmed for 30k UR to get a base room that is 600 sq feet in NYC is an amazing value. Plus the location and they are one of few NYC hotels to have a pool.
