I have a free night certificate in an SPG hotel, up to category 6 and would like to use it in NYC. Any recommendations?

I stayed at the W Union Square and I was very pleased.  I was only there one night though and I didn't take advantage of any of the amenities.  Still, it's right "above" Union Square and it's a gorgeous hotel.

Andaz 5th.
Thought so, any way to get a room nicer than just a Standard King room?

If you go to Jersey you should stay at the W Hoboken.

Is it any good? I've only been in the lobby...

Ask nicely. They put me in a Splash Suite.

If you have the Hyatt card, you're platinum and entitled to a one level upgrade upon availability
I remember when a coke was a nickel, and you could buy VRs in OD.

very nice hotel and good service. Ive been there a couple times and have gotten upgraded some of them. But try to get facing NYC and its really a nice view at night without the noise! As well weather permitting they have bikes they lend out which makes for a good activity. Or you can leave your car there and they will drive you to the ferry and spend the day in NY (cab or train around) without the hassle of parking.

Sorry, I know this has been asked many times before. Looking to book a really nice hotel in NYC for a night .  Have about 24,000 points to spend. IS it worth booking in NYC, or does it make more sense to go to W Hoboken? Would love to book the Andaz  but dont have Hyatt points and noone to trade with. Recommendations appreciated. Thanks!

many people accumulate hotel and airline points not to get the best CPM/CPP but because they would otherwise just not go rather than spend the money.
I don't understand why most of the bloggers/ points people don't get that.

True but you could probably sell the points and pay for the hotel room and have some cash leftover. Example, 25K starpoints can get you about $375 (as of 12/10/13 from sellmilesnow.com) so if you can get  a room for less than $300 it's worthwhile to sell points then pay for the room.

Looking for NYC area hotel with a really nice spa and separate mens/womens facilities. Any recommendations? Looked into Mandarin Oriental but it was too expensive.

So the hotel blocked suite night redemptions for aug 29 and 31 but not the 30th. Go figure

This is a review of the Hyatt Regency Jersey City.

We booked a free night with an anniversary award.

I would not normally write a review of a hotel room except the only point of something this extravagant is the cool factor. We barely spent any time in it so I figured I'll share it with you guys.

This was meant to be a really short purely business trip at a hotel close to NY.

We checked in late and I found out they were sold out, so they upgraded us to the Empire Suite.

I can't even find this suite on their website. I guess if you are booking online you cannot afford it. It's is probably meant for royalty or high profile politicians or obnoxious athletes.

The double doors with doorbell should have  been a clue:

Inside the door. You can see the scale of the room from the emergency escape plan:

The entrance hallway:

This is the guest bathroom.

And the main living area:

The kitchen:

The conference table:

The lounge area:

The view:

The bedroom (I don't want to know who else has slept here):

Computer and printer:

The bathroom was RIDICULOUS:

The mirror had a flatscreen tv embedded in it.

This shower head.

Good morning:

And lots more...

Sadly we did not have a lot of time to enjoy this room but it was cool while it lasted.

Next time you go to the Hyatt Regency Jersey City be sure to ask them to upgrade you to room 804. Tell them I sent you.  8)
