Topic Wiki

Since Vanilla Reloads are no longer able to be purchased with a CC at CVS or any other location, this thread is for historical purposes only.

If I would write where VR is available, by tomorrow it will never be available again. So instead, we will nominate this thread as the place where everyone can complain that there's no VR, and everyone will be happy.

And it was good.

Regarding OneVanilla (OV) and other Vanilla branded GCs:

1. These are not Vanilla Reloads. You are in the wrong thread to learn about them.

2. As long as you are here, they no longer work at WM to load to BB at the cashier or ATM, nor will they work there for MOs. Your best bets are to use Evolve (there is a thread for that), Amazon Payments (there is a thread for that, too), or use them for regular spending in stores or online. At some grocery stores customer service desks, you can use OV to buy a MO.

I bought 10 vanilla reloads ($500 each) a few days ago and loaded 4 on to my bb and paid my bill already with the $ from the 4.
The rest of the cards have either been stolen or misplaced. Cvs wouldn't refund me. Vanilla there's no one to talk to. I called chase which is the cc that was used for $4000 worth of the cards. And they said I can dispute it if I choose. Is there any drawback of repercussions for credit in future or financial review that that might do or shut me down for making such a big dispute. Especially if I acknowledge that I purchased the cards just that they were lost? Please advise

Oy. Do you have the receipt? Or can you possibly get a reprint from CVS using your cc to look up the purchase ?

Don't know of it'll do anything, but if you get to the right department at icomm/(vr) , I'm sure they can look up the pin codes using time and location of activation.

From what iv'e heard, CVS can print out a duplicate receipt.
They might be able to search by CC, or maybe find out from Chase the exact time of the transaction and have CVS search that way.

Not telling you not to do this but.... if you dispute it CVS may very possibly crack down on using CC on VR.
Why not call chase and tell them what happened if they can trace the money they are usually pretty efficient.

They can trace the money the issue is that the pin numbers are gone because cards were lost/stolen, and my $3000 is worth a lot more than them cracking down on using cc for gift cards, (unless youre ready to give me $3000)

Under no circumstances should you dispute.  CVS didn't screw up and it's no good for anyone if you make it a PIA for CVS to carry these.

CVS scanned his license. They won't take a 3k loss without fighting back, which may help him get his money once CVS finds the transaction for him.

Do you want to pay part of his 3k so you can continue buying VRs?

cvs agreed to lookup that info and get back to me within 5-8 business days, but once i get the serial numbers (not the pin) thats not to say that vanilla will give me back money, there is no one to talk to in vanilla they were extremely obnoxious and unhelpful.

also written a PITA.  It refers to pain in a private place that's not worth the bother.

Right, they'll fight back, but every incident like this makes it more inconvenient for CVS to keep selling these.

And no, I just want people to realize and accept the risks they're taking when they choose to walk out of stores carrying thousands in what is effectively cash.  But I'm pretty sure he can get this money back regardless.  This is far from the first case of this happening.

whats pia?

I have worked for similar companies looking up fraudulent transactions. It is not a PIA that it is being made out to be. People just don't want to lose their VR buying abilities because of this one guy. This one guy is not going to make or break it. All the people before the change to license scanning who were filing fraudulent claims were the ones causing the biggest monetary loss for CVS. CVS clearly had no problem switching over to license scanning to protect themselves in this exact situation of claiming lost CC and it was not me.

The bank will not be able to convince CVS to pay when CVS has the scanned license.
