It's funny how many n00bs have shown up out of the woodwork in the last 2 days here, but have experience buying VRs. I wonder how many ppl are out there that are "involved" in the forums but don't ever participate.

I am sure plenty who want to be spoon fed but dont feel the need to reciprocate and contribute as well.

Every other gift card is sold at a discount to CVS by the issuer.
This is because the merchants know that:
a) Not every gift card will be used - they'll have leftover balances
b) They don't have to pay CC fees (1-2%) when you use the GC
c) Merchant lock in - with a GC to Home Depot you're less likely to go to Lowes even if they have lower prices

The merchants gladly sell them to CVS for (let's say) 95% face value, and CVS charges you face value, making 5% - CC fees so about 3-4% on the GC.

For Vanilla reloads (and other reloads) the exact amount you buy gets transferred somewhere (BB or Serve or other prepaid acct), so Vanilla cannot sell the cards at a discount to CVS (hence the 3.95 fee)

No issues in NYC for me either. The store didn't have and VR left but OV works fine for me when the future is so uncertain...

Using it a BB kiosk, it sure does (pin is random 4 digit code). If you mean using it as a debit card to load your BB online, then no, I just tried it this morning. The transaction failed, even though I registered the zip code. From a FT forum, it sounds like it would work if you had a gift card that you registered your entire address with. I have not confirmed that much though.

I only came here because Dan linked to this thread in his post, and VR are the bread and butter of MS. Otherwise, I dont follow DDF or FT for that matter, I just check it out when its linked, or I want more info on a specific topic.

Just found some VR and some more OV to round out the $5k for the day. This time out of NYC.

I usually take it slow over the 90 days or so to get the bonus. First time doing $5k two days in a row fearing the end (of this method) is near.

It's actually more fun this way!!
